Location: Paphos
The mythical birthplace of Aphrodite (Venus), goddess of love and beauty, Paphos is an ancient and historic city, having been inhabited since the Neolithic period and later becoming the capital of Cyprus during Hellenistic and Roman times.
Visitors marvel at the numerous awe-inspiring historical sites in the region, such as the Archaeological Park with its marvellous mosaics, the Temple of Aphrodite, the Tombs of the Kings, the Chrysorrogiatissa Monastery and St. Paul's Pillar where the first Christian in Cyprus was flogged by the Romans for preaching Christianity. With so much history condensed into a single area, it is unsurprising that Paphos has been declared an UNESCO Heritage Site.
Paphos is home to a new international airport with excellent flight connections across Europe; its proximity to the A6 highway provides fast and easy access to the rest of the island.
